Dear ISPRS Student Consortium Members

Please find below an announcement that could be of interest to you.

Kindly Regards,

Ahmet Sengul

Student Consortium WEB responsible.

As educators, we are confronted with many exciting challenges to teach students skills that were historically taught face-to-face in a classroom. The use and importance of electronic media in education and for knowledge transfer has increased significantly in recent years. Electronic media, such as email communication and information retrieval through search engines, have become standards not only in our daily life but also in an education environment. Such e-tools are used as information communication tools between the educators and students. They not only offer the option to enhance and modernise learning in a traditional university environment, but also present an opportunity to expand and offer more flexible life-long learning, e.g. for temporal and spatial contexts.

The demand for life-long learning requires more openness on behalf of universities, to make existing learning and teaching materials accessible to all who are interested in acquiring additional skills. E-learning courses may help to fulfil this requirement, and can considerably support the social task of creating the conditions for life-long learning.

High quality e-learning tools and courses are sought, but their development is very challenging, often resulting in high demands in development time, and therefore staff and financial costs.

Faced with these challenges educators have to be knowledgeable about rapidly developing e-resources, techniques and tools, which lead to more efficient, interactive, interesting and easily accessible learning tools.

The aim of this workshop is to exchange views on recent e-learning concepts, standards and useful software tools for setting up interactive modules which should help to create cost savings and to improve the e-skills of lecturers. An additional focus will be given to examples of good practise, e.g. case studies and e-learning applications.

The workshop is integrated in the meeting Innovationen in Aus- und Weiterbildung mit GIS organized by GFZ and DDGI. For further information please visit the hompage.
